Egypt’s textile exports fell to $257 mn in January, down by 0.4 per cent from $258 mn in the same month last year. Over 2019, textile exports rose by 0.1 per cent to $3.053 bn from $3.048 bn in the previous year, according to the monthly report released recently by the country’s Textiles, Apparel, and Home Textiles Export Council.
In January, the exports of readymade garments fell by 3 per cent, while the exports of home furnishing and textiles rose by 9 per cent and 2 per cent respectively, according to report.
Egypt’s textile exports to the United States rose by 1 per cent year on year (YoY) to $96.2 mn last January, while the country’s textile exports to African countries grew by 15 per cent YOY to $4.5 mn from $3.9 mn earlier.
Meanwhile, the country’s textile exports to Arab countries dropped by 6 per cent to $30 mn from $32 mn in January 2019.
